Apollo Popper - Stainless Steel

Best popcorn maker. So simple and makes delicious popcorn! I am thrilled to not have to use my microwave anymore. A new staple in my home!

I received a Popper for Christmas...didn't think I needed it until I tried it! First of all the pan is high quality stainless steel, beyond anything you would purchase in a big box store. The fact that it is stainless steel is important to me. Studies indicate aluminum pans can leech aluminum into your food, potentially permitting ingestion. Aluminum has been correlated with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. It is important to me to reduce any potential risk by something simple like using stainless steel cookware. It is well-made: something that will stand the test of time. I use mine on a weekly basis. It cleans up easily and can be used for other cooking needs if desired. I personally just use it for making popcorn. My method is to use only coconut oil (non hydrogenated) and the popcorn kernels. Once the popper has done it's magic I have a batch of delicious popcorn that only needs a touch of salt to taste like movie popcorn (most likely from the coconut oil). If you are leery about using the coconut oil...don't be! It is the hydrogenated oils that are dangerous. Coconut oil is actually a healthy fat. I also stay healthy by using Redmond salt. The final positive aspect is that almost all of the kernels pop...occasionally some are left behind, but not many. Can you use other pans for popcorn...yes. But this is truly a wonderful pan that actually performs as described. I am glad to have it!

Being a bit skeptical, I took it upon myself to prove just might just be an ordinary pan. Boy was I in for a surprise! With corn added first, the oil level is easy to determine by just using enough to cover the un-popped kernels. Heat cranked up to full blast and soon the popping began. I broke the rules and shook the pan a few times because it’s hard for me to sit still. When the popping slowed, I removed the pan from the heat and shook it again. With popping complete, I emptied the contents into a big bowl and added a touch of ‘Amish Country Ballpark Style Popcorn Salt’ and gave it a try.
Unbelievable. The vent holes in the Apollo Popper lid allowed the steam to escape while popping, providing a crunchy, fresh, VERY enjoyable treat. I had to ‘fess up that I was completely wrong in my assumptions. There were so few un-popped kernels, especially compared to microwave packets, I’m now getting more edible popcorn per batch than I’ve ever imagined.

I now pop several batches a week and appreciate being wrong. Yep, I’m glad I gave the Apollo Popper a shot, because it’s completely changed the way I think about popcorn.

You can make it exactly how you want it. If that means two sticks of butter and all the flavor or just light salt because you want a healthy late-night snack this is the popper for you!

I'll be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of cooking really anything, so anything I do buy cookware wise has to be very simple and straight-forward to use. I love the fact you don't have to shake this pan. Just pour and go! The fact it's dishwasher safe is also a huge plus for me. I cannot stand doing dishes, so any time I can throw something in the dishwasher I am happy! You can't beat the quality of the popcorn, either. Tastes EXACTLY like movie theater style popcorn, unlike so many microwave brands that promise that taste, but don't deliver at all. No more stale, tasteless popcorn, and no more worries about microwaving. It's honestly worth every penny.
