The sky appears blue to us because of a phenomenon called Rayleigh scattering. Sunlight is made up of different colors of light, each with a different wavelength. When sunlight enters the Earth’s atmosphere, it collides with the air molecules and gets scattered in all directions. Blue light has a shorter wavelength than other colors, so it gets scattered more easily. This is why we see the sky as blue most of the time.
